Ack! I feel like I've been neglecting my blog but that's only because I've been working all day on my Christmas Cracker. Tomorrow is the first day of my new job and also a sales conference. We're been challenged to take part in Miss Corvina's Christmas Cracker Challenge to fashion up a cracker, greeting card, and envelope. The cracker that lives up to the mantra "Give, Live, and Inspire" wins! We were given a tube, cracker snap, white card, and a little silver tube with paper. Traditional crackers have a toy trinket, a funny saying, and a paper crown. I decided to make peanut ornaments for all the employees.
Cracker components!

Wrapping the cracker (does this paper look familiar?). I also made a little gift tag. And yes, the cracker is from Santa Caws.

I made "cushioning" by folding up tissue paper (from Anthropologie) and cutting them up into lines. Works real well and it was free!
Picked out some good peanuts and drew smiley faces on them. Used a needle to put a piece of string through. Cut a little felt into the shape of a scarf, embroidered letters and "buttons", created a crown out of piece of Happy Tape folded in half and then hot glue gunned onto their heads. 1 down, 8 to go!
These took me all day but I'm really excited about how cute they came out!

I also added a poem:
Corvina's challenge gave paper cuts
and the glue gun left traces of schmutz
But it went fast like a dream
To be part of a team
That's punny, creative, and nuts!
Finishing touches...
"Caw-tion, may contain nuts".

The holiday card was made with cut out pieces of Happy Tape formed into letters, and then outlined with a extra fine point pen. And another gift tag for the greeting card.
Almost finished....!
Final product! We'll see what happens tomorrow! I'll keep you all posted.

I am IN LOVE with that card! My two favorite things....cards and washi tape!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Selina! It was definitely a "make something with what you have around" kind of project.
